Theater Skunk Works Is Live

(Now THAT'S a Subject Line I Never Anticipated Writing)

Dear Subscribers — As I mentioned in my last post, I will be writing here and on a new blog on Theater Skunk Works.

The writing on Theater Skunk Works, inspired by the current crisis in the realm of non-profit regional theater, will be focused on “building out” (to use a programming term) a sustainable model for theater, one that will be independent, sustainable, humane, engaged, and most importantly empowering for theater artists of all kinds (including people whose gifts are in the area of management and producing). My writing here, as the title suggests, will focus on the intersection of theater and ideas. This might include essays on plays, or ideas about how theater fits into our contemporary society, or inspirational figures from the past or today’s world. If Theater Skunk Works is about how, Theater / Ideas is about why.
